The Animal Care Program works in conjunction with the Department of Animal Sciences to provide a hands-on learning experience within the animal housing facilities. Students can take any practicum courses offered by the Department of Animal Sciences. Students will work side by side with the full time professional staff learning all aspects of the husbandry, care and use of animals housed on campus.
The practicum program opens doors for many learning opportunities through interactions not only with the animal care staff put also the faculty and graduate students conducting research. It is common for a practicum student to perform follow up work in one of the faculty research labs during their Junior or Senior year.
