Agritourism is an increasingly important strategy for farmers to expand farm income and employment opportunities for family members. By opening farms to visitors for educational and recreational purposes, agritourism also raises public awareness and appreciation of farming and agricultural issues. An estimated one in five New Jersey farms provide some form of agritourism activity such as on-farm direct marketing, educational tours, entertainment, outdoor recreation, or farm accommodations.
