Since 1997, Lisa has been a 4-H County Agent in Somerset County, New Jersey. The Somerset County 4-H Youth Development Program is one of the largest in the state, reaching 7,000 youth annually through clubs, school enrichment, school age childcare programs and special interest programs. Since joining Rutgers University in 1997, Lisa has been nationally recognized for her leadership and educational initiatives in teen leadership/ youth as partners programs, teambuilding, and STEM focused initiatives for the Somerset County 4-H Youth Development Program.

The Somerset County 4-H Youth Development Program is one of the largest in the state, engaging the passion of 300 volunteers to reach 6,000 youth annually through clubs, school enrichment, camp and special interest programs. Youth find a place to belong, learn independence, generosity, and mastery based on their interests. Lisa Rothenburger received a BA from Clark University and a MAT from the University of Louisville, both in Biology. Prior to coming to Extension she worked as a naturalist, a science museum educator, a middle school science teacher, and ran simulated space missions for a Challenger Center.
