The Rutgers Agricultural Research and Extension Center in Upper Deerfield (Cumberland County) generates and dispenses research applicable to the production of high-quality vegetable crops, ornamentals, field crops, and tree and small fruits, with special emphasis on crop protection and integrated pest management. The center stimulates the production of crops with maximum benefit to the New Jersey economy and minimum risk to the environment.

From the New Jersey Turnpike: Exit 2 to US 322 East to Mullica Hill. Turn right at the light onto NJ 45 South. Follow NJ 45 for about 1 mile through Mullica Hill until you come to the start of NJ 77. Stay straight on NJ 77 South (NJ 45 bears to the right toward Salem) through the US 40 Circle at Pole Tavern. Continue on NJ 77 for 8 miles through the village of Deerfield. After passing a flashing light in Deerfield (County Route 540), take the second road to the left (Northville Road). The Center is 1 mile ahead on the left.
From I-295: Exit onto NJ 42 South (toward Atlantic City). After approximately 2 miles on NJ 42, exit right onto NJ 55 South. Continue roughly 15 miles on NJ 55 to exit 45. (Be advised that there are 2 exits for County Route 553; you want the second one). Take a right at the end of the exit ramp onto County Route 553 South toward Centerton (about 9 miles). At the dam of Centerton Lake, turn right onto County 540 West (don’t continue on County 553 toward Bridgeton). Approximately 1 mile from Centerton on County 540, you will come to 2 adjacent roads on the left. Take the second left onto Northville Road, and proceed across Old Burlington Road (at the stop sign). The Center access road is the first road on the right.
From the Garden State Parkway: Take Exit 37 to US 40/322 West toward Mays Landing. At the Hamilton Mall, take the jughandle for US 40 West to Mays Landing. Stay on US 40 through Mays Landing. After crossing the railroad tracks, turn left onto County Route 540 toward Vineland. Stay on County 540 West through Vineland (passing Parvin State Park) roughly 17 miles to Centerton. Stay on 540 by turning right after the dam at Centerton Lake. Approximately 1 mile from Centerton, you will come to 2 adjacent roads on the left. Take the second left onto Northville Road, and proceed across Old Burlington Road (at the stop sign). The Center access road is the first road on the right.
From Cape May County: Take NJ 47 North to NJ 55 North. Take Exit 32-B for NJ 56 West toward Rosenhayn. Stay on NJ 56 about 1 mile and turn right at the traffic light (after crossing the railroad tracks). At the stop sign (less than 1 mile), turn left onto County Route 540 West. Stay on County 540 West roughly 4.5 miles to Centerton. Continue on County 540 by turning right after the dam at Centerton Lake. Approximately 1 mile from Centerton, you will come to 2 adjacent roads on the left. Take the second left onto Northville Road, and proceed across Old Burlington Road (at the stop sign). The Center access road is the first road on the right.
