Essex County

Montclair Community Farms Mobile Farm Stand

Using a mobile farm stand, the Montclair Community Farm travels to local affordable housing communities to sell produce at reasonable prices. They currently serve Pine Ridge, Montclair; First Montclair House, Montclair; The Senior Center at Edgemont Memorial Park, Montclair; Belleville Farmers Market, Belleville; Orange Valley Arts Market, Orange and Woodland Avenue in partnership with HOMEcorp.

Plant It Forward Volunteer Days, March – November

The Montclair Community Farms serve as hands-on resources that engage the community in urban farming, sustainable agriculture, affordable food access, and healthy food and lifestyle choices. The goal is to provide local seniors with access to fresh produce by sending our mobile farmstand to their buildings. They welcome volunteers from the community during the growing and harvesting seasons.

Youth Community Garden Club

Youth Urban Farm Club is a summer program serving youth in Hudson County ages 11-18 at community garden and small urban farm sites led by adult volunteers from the community. The goal of this program is for youth to develop new skills in horticulture, urban agriculture, and animal husbandry, serve their community by supporting the maintenance of these sites, and forge relationships with their peers and adult volunteers. Youth gain hands-on experience while also learning about food systems, the local environment, and learning by doing.
