RU-Fit

RU-FIT (Rutgers University Financial Independence Training) is a campus-wide campaign to improve the financial literacy of Rutgers University students. Special emphasis is being placed on educating students how to use credit cards wisely. The program was developed in response to an October 2000 resolution by the Rutgers University faculty senate to address the issue of student credit card debt. The RU-FIT initiative includes the RU-FIT Web site, printed materials about the wise use of credit cards, financial education training seminars for students, and PowerPay computerized debt reduction analyses. It also includes narrated online PowerPoint presentations of the To Be a Have or Have Not...The Choice is Yours program, developed by the National Endowment For Financial Education (NEFE®), as well as the presentations Credit Card Economics, Credit Card Fees and Credit Card Traps.
