Marilou Rochford is a family and community health sciences educator for Rutgers NJAES Cooperative Extension (RCE) of Cape May County. Rochford provides a comprehensive education and research program for RCE, with an emphasis on wellness and nutrition, human development, and food safety. She has created innovative programming that incorporates nutrition and food safety into parenting education classes. She is nationally recognized for her work with children and fathers ("Me and My Dad"), and has also focused her efforts on grandparents who are raising their grandchildren. Her interests include the emotional impact of childhood obesity. She serves on several school wellness committees, has coordinated school walking programs and school garden enhanced nutrition education and works to promote healthy food choices in school and at home. Her most recent work includes a focus on workplace wellness for Cape May County employees and Jr. Chef's Cooking Camp. Her Grandparents Raising Grandchildren program has been in place in Cape May County since 1999.
