Position: County Agent III (equivalent to Asst. Professor)

Nature and Purpose:

This tenure track position provides leadership and support to conduct a comprehensive public health focused Family and Community Health Sciences (FCHS) program. As a faculty member of Rutgers, the State University, the FCHS Educator provides leadership for planning, promotion, implementation, and evaluation of an applied research-based, multi-method program with measurable impacts on the clientele and profession. These programs will assist professionals and residents to make more informed decisions in the areas of food, nutrition, health and wellness, and related current health issues. Educational programs will address the needs of a culturally diverse audience that spans economic levels within metropolitan/urban environments and to advance health equities. The FCHS Educator will oversee the undergraduate on-line Minor Program in Community Health Outreach, including providing support to both instructors and enrolled and prospective students. The Educator will manage and support state-wide farm-to-school, FoodCorps and related programming. The Educator will also provide support to new and existing local public health initiatives within New Brunswick. The FCHS Educator is expected to garner external resources through grants and contracts, and alternative funding streams for support of the program and to collaborate with appropriate agencies for the implementation of educational programs. The FCHS Educator will be responsible for establishing a working relationship with extension counterparts within the counties and state-wide. The Educator will be expected to establish an outstanding program, the merits of which will result in regional and/or national recognition. The Educator will be expected to participate in appropriate departmental, Rutgers Cooperative Extension, School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, Rutgers, the State University and County administrative functions.

Salary and Benefits:

Academic Rank: County Agent III (Assistant Professor), Tenure track, CY - 100% Extension appt.

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.

Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees required from accredited institutions in public health, health education, health policy, or related fields. Three years minimum post-degree professional experience required for appointment to the rank of County Agent III (equivalent to Assistant Professor). Research experience in experimental design, data collection, evaluation and analysis is preferred. Effective public speaking and presentation skills for program delivery and communications to clientele are required. Supervisory or managerial experience as it relates to staff and volunteer management is preferred. The successful candidate must have the ability to work cooperatively and communicate with staff and clientele. Computer proficiency is required. A valid driver’s license or ability to acquire said license is a necessity for the performance of this position. Willingness and dedication to commit to the long hours associated with the position are expected.
