Q: I have raccoons around my property, what type of damage can they do to my property?
A: Recent development or road construction in an area may displace raccoons, causing them to seek shelter and food elsewhere. Raccoons quickly learn that chimneys, attics, outbuildings, and under porches and buildings make suitable dens. They also learn that lawns, gardens, and garbage make easy meals. Raccoons can cause extensive damage to freshly laid sod when they roll it over in search of insects. This may occur over large areas and on repeated nights.
