Celebration Ideas

Here some ideas to help you raise awareness of the centennial in your programs and to organize centennial celebrations in your county:

  • Add the 100th Anniversary logo to websites, social media pages, email, brochures, newsletters, etc.
  • Prepare an exhibit to be displayed at local libraries, public events, the county administration building and other locations.
  • Create a presentation highlighting accomplishments in your county over the past 100 years.
  • Secure speaking engagements at local community centers, Chamber of Commerce, schools, club meetings to talk about Extension’s impact on your county.
  • Plan a 100th Anniversary of Cooperative Extension Open House.
  • Plan an "Extension through the Years" clientele recognition breakfast.
  • Prepare a time capsule, which includes all outreach components of Rutgers Cooperative Extension, and have a time capsule dedication ceremony.
  • Organize a special tree planting ceremony to commemorate the 100th Anniversary. Use a Rutgers Cooperative Extension developed dogwood or holly tree.
  • Work with local newspapers to establish a monthly column featuring the work of RCE faculty and staff.
  • Work with local newspapers to write a feature story on each department within your county Cooperative Extension office.
  • Write an article or press release about the impacts Extension has had in your local community or county.
  • Post Cooperative Extension 100th Anniversary posters (see toolkit) in local venues, including libraries, schools, community centers, bookstores, etc.
