Veterinary Care

Veterinary care for the animals at Rutgers New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station (NJAES) and the Rutgers School of Environmental and Biological Sciences is provided by the Office of the University Veterinarian and Director of Laboratory Animal Services, Dr. Robert L. Harris, DVM. Dr. Harris has 3 additional veterinary associates to assist him with the direct veterinary care and treatment of the traditional laboratory animals, sheep, goats, deer and pigs. In consultation with Dr. Harris' office, outside contract veterinarians are used for the dairy cattle and horses.

Reporting Sick Animals:

Procedurally, faculty, staff and students should report sick animals to the appropriate unit supervisor (see Personnel and Contacts). The unit supervisors will generate a Blue Sheet Veterinary Treatment and Reporting Form which will be faxed to the Office of the University Veterinarian. Follow up veterinary care will be provided by the University Veterinarian, Animal Care (Veterinary) Staff and /or Consulting Veterinarians as deemed appropriate.

Sick animals can also be reported directly to the Director of Animal Care at: 732-932-7412
