New Use Agriculture and Natural Products Program (NUANPP)

The New Use Agriculture and Natural Products Program (NUANPP) was created to develop new crops and domesticate aromatic and medicinal plants, particularly those containing extractable chemicals in interest for flavor, aroma, and medicinal activity. Scientists are using powerful state-of-the-art analytic equipment to isolate bioactive compounds and standardize natural products in plants including grapes, green tea and Echinacea, soybeans, red clover, and basil. The program works cooperatively with research groups around the world examining the essential oils from aromatic plants and germplasm collections.
